Endless Hope

An author wrote, "Man can live forty days without food; can live three days without water and eight minutes without air, but only one second without hope." Hope is one of the most powerful and important forces in our lives.

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The definition of worldly hope is, very uncertain, maybe something good will happen. Biblical hope is a steady confident expectation of good.
"The God of Hope" - this implies several things about our God:

A. His nature is hopeful

God by nature is full of hope. He is a hopeful God.

B. He is the supplier of hope to us.

As "the God of Hope" He is able to pour His hope into our lives; all the hope we’ll ever need. If you’ve lost hope today, go to God the source of all hope. He will fill you with hope. Romans 15:13 says that you may ABOUND in hope.

Christians should be the most hope-filled people on the planet, because the God of hope lives in them. In a hopeless world we can shine with hope.
There is only one source of true hope, that is God.

Psalm 39:7
“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You."

The world encourages us to look elsewhere for hope.

2 Dangers of Losing Hope

1. Backsliding and Sin

2. We Give Up

Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

How do we find hope?

Romans 5:3
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Notice the progression here? Tribulations (maybe that’s you today) then produces perseverance, character, and hope. Hope does not disappoint.

In the town of Port Hope, Canada there is a monument erected. It is not for some leading citizen, but for a poor unselfish working man who gave most of his life and energy helping people who could not repay him. Joseph Scriven was born in Dublin in 1820.

The Holy Spirit

Romans 15:13
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
