Life In The Kingdom Of God Part 2

There are two kingdoms, the kingdom of darkness, which is the kingdom of the world ruled by Satan. And the Kingdom of God, ruled by Jesus Christ.

Exodus 8:22-23
22 And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land. 23 I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.

Exodus 9:4
And the Lord will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. So nothing shall die of all thatbelongs to the children of Israel.

Colossians 1:13-14
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

When we give our lives to Jesus we are delivered from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the Kingdom of God. This means four great things:

i. We are transferred from darkness to light.

ii. We are transferred from slavery into freedom.

We have redemption which is the word used for the release of a slave or the buying back of something which was in the power of someone else.

iii. We are delivered from the power of Satan to the power of God.

Acts 26:18

18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

iv. We are now citizens of heaven.

Philipians 3:20
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

The Contrast of Two Kingdoms

1. Finances

This is an area of major concern today. If I was not saved and living in another kingdom I would be worried and have great concerns, but I don’t worry because I am not to be subject to the world’s economy as others are.
There are two financial economies, the world’s and Kingdom of God's. Our job is to make sure we live according to the principles of the Kingdom of God financially, and then enjoy the blessing that follows. Be generous, pay tithes and offerings, care for poor, and give to mission.

2. Protection

Psalm 91:9-11

9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.

While world lives in great fear of danger we can enjoy peace knowing that our lives are in God’s hands, and angels are watching over us.

Psalm 139:16
6 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

God has determined the number of our days.

When we live according to the Kingdom of God and passionately seek to fulfill our calling, then we can be confident that we cannot pass from this earth before our appointed time.

3. Values

The values of the kingdom of darkness and the Kingdom of God are very different. The world does all in its power to deceive us into living for what world values.

Jeremiah 9:23-24
23 Thus says the Lord:
“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

The world measures success often by four things

a. Wisdom or intelligence.

If you're bright you're someone, if not you're less.

b. Might or power

The world admires people of great power, influence and position. Jesus was the most powerful person of all, yet He came as a servant.

c. Riches

Money, money; the world, and some of us, love wealth.
Where is our focus? Our house on earth or the one we are building in heaven? Our position on earth or heaven; our bank account here or up there?

d. Image or beauty

Another worldly value is beauty, it's a huge focus. Pursuit of body beautiful is a multi-billion dollar industry.

2 Corinthians 4:16
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

4. Handling adversity and trials

Those outside the Kingdom of God have only their own strength to draw on, and often it is not enough for great trials. Many end up bitter, beaten and defeated. It's very different for Christians. The Spirit of God lives in them. In the face of great adversity we have a power outside of ourselves, the power of God, to help us so we can win every time.

5. Miracles

As citizens of the Kingdom of God we are always positioned for a miracle.

Psalm 66:6
6 He turned the sea into dry land;
They went through the river on foot.
There we will rejoice in Him.

An example is when Peter was in prison.

Acts 12:7
7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.
