Restoring The Apostolic Mandate

Some years ago I would connect with India’s leading prophet. He would annoy me, as prophets often do. He would say to me, "Tak you're not a man for the four walls of church. Get out of the four walls."

What happens if a lion is captured and put in a cage? It loses its aggressive roar because it is confined in the cage. It no longer has to hunt or claim its territory. The lion becomes content to stay within a cage.

What the prophet was saying to me is, "Tak, God has got more for you than you realise. Don’t get confined to four walls, you will lose your roar."

The Lion of the tribe of Judah is in all of us. The Bible says that the righteous are as bold as a lion. We all have a lion in us, who wants to roar and conquer territory. We were born for this.

Genesis 1:26, 28
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The primary anointing in the Book of Acts is Apostolic. The early church, our blueprint, was always conquering new territory. It impacted local community, cities, nations, and saw a great harvest planting churches. It was always expanding. They were not confined to four walls. Most of their ministry and miracles were outside the church, in the marketplace.

The same was true of Jesus. Jesus is an Apostle, the Holy Spirit is apostolic, and they are both in us. We all have an apostolic dimension to expand our territory.

Why has the mandate to take new territory been lost in some churches?

Centuries ago the title and function of the apostle was replaced with the office of the bishop. There came a massive shift away from church leaders being mission minded and conquering new territories, to focusing mostly on church life.

What new territories are you looking to take? I am always after new territory. I want to reach central Auckland, so we started the Church Unlimited city church. I now have an eye on Northland. After New Zealand there is Pakistan and Beyond; also Egypt and Beyond.

Four Apostolic Verses

2 Chronicles 25:9
… And the man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”

1 Chronicles 4:9-10
9 Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I borehim in pain.”
10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

Isaiah 54:2
“Enlarge the place of your tent,
And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare;
Lengthen your cords,
And strengthen your stakes.

Psalm 119:32
I will run the course of Your commandments,
For You shall enlarge my heart.

Allow God to enlarge our hearts.

Some have vision for the local church; that's too narrow. Others have a vision for their community, some for a city; still not big enough. A nation, still too small. A vision for a continent is still not enough. God wants us to have vision for whole world. God’s vision is a world vision. For God so loved the world.

The Apostolic equips saints and releases the apostolic dimension in every believer to expand the Kingdom of God.

It gets people out of their cages. You are all full time ministers, called by God to expand the Kingdom of God wherever He has placed you.

The Apostolic carries a breakthrough anointing

1 Corinthians 12:28
And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Just as there is rank in an army, there is rank in the army of God. There are different ranks in the spirit even though we are all equal in Christ. Church Unlimited has always been called to start new ministries and to impact the world with the gospel.

The Apostolic is an international anointing

A Pastor has an anointing for the local church and local region. An Apostle has anointing to reach the nation and nations. Acts 1:8 speaks of being witnesses to uttermost parts of earth. Our anointing is to touch the world.

Prayer releases the apostolic anointing

Luke 10:2
Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

The key to releasing labourers is prayer.

This mission month is to draw our attention to fulfilling the great commission from our street to distant nations.
